Notification to Receiving for Job Shortages

After utilizing Epicor for the past seven years, I have identified a feature that would greatly benefit professionals in the manufacturing sector. Occasionally, we initiate jobs even when not all components are readily available. This enables us to partially assemble the product, with the remaining components expected to arrive shortly as they are on order. This early commencement helps streamline our manufacturing process.

My inquiry pertains to whether Epicor offers a functionality through which our receiving department can be notified when an inbound component is crucial for a job currently in progress on the shop floor.

You can run the production planner process and then use the production planner workbench to see which materials are missing for which jobs, or which jobs have all materials available. It also has a by-part view. You could probably leverage the data generated by the process to generate alerts to receiving.

@aosemwengie1 describes the best way to use existing tools.

Essentially you’re looking for a “time phase”-like report/dashboard for the job materials on a specific job. Look at the PartDtl table (basis for Time Phase), the PPlanMtl table (basis for Production Planner Workbench availability that @aosemwengie1 refers to above), and PORel table (incoming PO receipt due dates). All the data is in there (and maybe some others I’m not thinking of), it’s just a matter of finding it and then figuring out how to notify the appropriate people with the correct data at the right time.

For a large number of our customers we implement a dashboard/homepage widget view to show Goods In what is due to arrive. Within the data we show if the PO is linked to a Job/Assembly/Operation and if the job is in progress (for PO to Job transactions). If the PO is not linked to a job then we show if there are in progress jobs requiring the materials where it has either not been issued, or not issued complete and the amount required but time has been booked to one or more operation
