Number Limit in JE?

Hello,
I am entering a journal entry, using “paste update” from an excel file. The entry pops a soft stop error that appears to be related the number of digits in the debit or credit field. If the number is in the millions (1,000,000.00), it won’t paste/update. I can hit the button to “Continue” and it skips that row completely. I then have to enter that row manually (no stop on the manual entry of the number).
Has anyone run into this? Is there a setting that we need to fix?

Thanks
Marsha

I don’t quite follow. You’re doing a journal entry with over 1,000,000 lines?

No, it’s a debit or credit with a number in the millions I think?

No. I am referring the dollar amounts in the debit and credit fields.

Couldn’t say. I wish we were large enough to transact in those amounts. JE in the millions is outside anything we have ever done. Strange that it stops on paste update but not manual entry. That tells me it’s not a formatting limitation within the framework, but something else.

Commas?

I don’t enter commas when I enter manuallly - I enter 1000000.00

Try to paste a manual one with commas and see what happens. (Just that field.)

Nope, that didn’t work either. I got the same error message

I pasted in 2023.2 CR without issue maybe it’s something they have corrected?

Did it with commas, decimals, and no decimals. Did it as text, general, and number formats.

Is what I did in the screenshot effectively what you are pasting in?

It looks like you are using the classic version, I’m on Kinetic and using the browser.
I wonder if this is an issue with Kinetic?

As text formatting I got this

Something in JSON causing the issue maybe?

However formatted as a number in Excel it worked on 2023.2

Could you paste that in notepad and see what it looks like?

That looks correct. that is what I was expecting.

So yep, it’s the commas.

Y’all think this would qualify as a bug, or a formatting and education issue?

I say bug, since it works in classic.

Only time I got it to break on 2023.2 was as text with commas

ok, I seriously broke my clients’ pilot - this issue plus another one. I’m so locked up right now that I can’t even log off nicely. I’m sure I can shut off my computer, but don’t really want to do that right now.

Are we back to thinking it’s a bug with Kinetic?

with a workaround, format the column like @jgiese.wci did
