ODBC connection to Customer table

I received the same error on several remote workstations. When I tried
it on the server, It worked perfectly.

I think this topic was discussed in the past for which I apoligize.
When connecting to the customer table using an Access ODBC connection, I
receive a "too many indexes on table PUB.Customer."
Delete some indexes. Obviously, I am not going to start deleting
indexes. Does anyone have a less severe workaround.

We are approaching going Live with Vantage 6.1.

I have done several projects using Access to link to
Progress tables.

However when I try to link to the Customer table it
says I have exceed the number of indexes limit of 32
for Access. It looks like the Customer table has
around 50 indexes.

Any one have a work around?

I believe this is a "feature" in MS Access. Hard-coded so I doubt you
will find a workaround.

Upon start-up of may access db, I have a macro that runs a progress program
to export the fields I need from the customer table to a .csv file. Then, I
link to that file instead of direct to the progress db customer file. Works
well.

You need to create a view in Progress. Open SQL Explorrer, connect to the database and run this.

Create VIEW odbc.vwCustomer as SELECT * FROM Pub.customer ;
Commit;

This will let you view the table without the index problem.

If you have MSSQL Server you can also create a linked server to the Progress database and then a View of that table from there. MSSQL Server doesn't have the same limits as Access and handles the index fine.
That view would look something like:

CREATE VIEW dbo.vwCustomer
AS
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(Vantage, 'select * from Pub.Customer') Customer

'Vantage' is the name of my linked server.

Seems the most popular way around this is to create a view in Progress of the
Customer table. Look at the ODBC Kit from Epicor for the instructions on how
to do this.
