ODBC error

I'm getting an error when trying to update links in an Access97 database
using the Merant driver. I get the error -- 3146 ODBC call failed --

Access help states this is a metwork connectivity problem but the system is
connected to the network and the ODBC configuration checks out ok when I
test it in the ODBC configuration. Has anyone had experiance averting this
error? thanks

I've been trying to create a new report in Crystal.
Each time I insert a field having linked to a third table the following
error appears.
ODBC error [MERANT] [ODBC PROGRESS driver] [PROGRESS]** unable
to understand after- ''DECLARE''.247
-error detected by database.DLL
Has anyone else experienced this error under similar circumstances?

Merant ODBC is installed and we're running Vantage 4.00.811

Thanks in advance.

I have gotten this error in the past on crystal 7. I think it had something
to do with crystal not handling the joins properly. Unfortunately, it was
several months ago, and I don't remember what fixed it. I called both
Vantage Tech support and also Seagate software support and one of them sent
me some kind of executable that fixed the problem. I don't have that
anymore either.

Hi Karen,

I just had that problem yesterday and got it fixed. Crystal sent me a Registry file (outjoin.reg) from their website. You double-click it and it updates the Seagate portion of your registry. That first attempt didn't work, however. They next directed me to run the Crystal tool called. SQLCONN32.exe from the Crystal CD, which gave me the name of the driver that connects to Progress. They then had me edit the oujoin.reg file to add that filename to the "OpenIngress" line. That didn't work either. Finally, I sent all the stuff to Crystal, they put the filename on a separate line in a "custom" file, aptly named "troy.reg" after yours truly. That time it worked.

I think you might want to give Crystal a call. I talked to Ken (x 299) about all this, by the way.
