[Off Topic] Using Zetafax to fax from Vantage

Thanks to all the replies. I am using an old US Robotics modem at this
point. Wanted to make sure it was going to work before investing more.

Rick:
I finally came to the conclusion that I should just go at it the "hard way"
and I redid the parts that were printing incomplete. If there are any
special settings, I have yet to find one - however my overall experience
with Crystal is pretty minimal. Once I reworked the fonts, line lengths and
spacing, it worked fine. I will, however, carefully check each of our
Crystal forms before I release a user to fax it (especially since many of
them were "customized" by in house "help"). Zetafax was very easy to
install. I only have a couple of people using it right now on a test basis,
and due to server problems, the testing process has been a bit slow. Using
it is easy enough - it shows up as another printer and after a brief delay,
presents a screen asking for the fax number and info for the cover sheet.
There is a second screen that has space for a message. There is an address
book, but I haven't been there yet either. I purchased a 25 user package
from CDW for $1123.00. That includes the e-mail gateway which I have not
yet gotten in to.

Hope that helps and thanks for the input. :)

Marilyn:

Maybe if you try switching back to the (bland) original/basic form(s) in
Vantage
and try Zetafax again to see if it's unique to the form in Crystal? I'm
very
interested in using Zeta to do the very same thing. Is it easy to setup?
use?
Where did you buy? How much? Wanna go on a date? Sorry, just
kidding...got a
little carried away...(that's what I do...)

Pleaase advise.

Hi all,
I know there are some users out there that have used Zetafax to fax
directly from Vantage. Did anyone have problems with the format of the
received fax? We're still on Vantage 3.00.627 using Crystal Reports 7.0
and we have Zetafax Version 7. I'm working with some of the Crystal reports
that were altered by someone else in the company, but when I looked at the
faxed version (faxed them to myself and received on a standalone fax
machine), some of the blocks of information are incomplete or print only the
bottom half of the letters. Yes - multiple fonts were used on this one
form.
Does anyone know if there is a setting in either Crystal or Zetafax that
I've missed, or do I just need to look at redoing the forms being used.
Right now I'm working with an altered quote form, but the PO's and Invoices
are probably down the road!

Thanks for any insight you can offer. Your experience is definitely
appreciated!

For what its worth, we use Zetafax all the time with Vantage ( 3.0 ) Our
documents are altered, not a huge amount but altered none the less. Its
been working fine for about 2 years with no issues.

We have used Zetafax for 4 years with Vantage(and others) - no problems, has
been a real workhorse. We are still on version 5 of Zetafax (didn't want to
fix what wasn't broke). It was very easy to install. Can see it at :

We've been using Zetafax 6 for nearly two years with our customized Crystal
forms (which use the same font throughout) without a problem. The only
hitch I've come across with Zetafax is that we use a plain old US Robotics
modem with it, and some faxes will not go out to any recipients who have
older, incompatible equipment at their end. For us, this is maybe three out
of a hundred fax numbers we use on a regular basis. If you go with Zetafax,
try to use it with a Brooktrout or other fax board that Zetafax recommends,
and you should eliminate that incompatiblity issue.

For all the time saved waiting to feed pages through a machine, it's worth
it. It's also a pretty low-maintenance program. I highly recommend it.
