recommendations? I am going to be talking to the company the provides

"Voice Mail" can mean several things:

Voice Mailboxes, where you can leave a message if no one answers, or ask to
be sent to if the operator can't find the person.

And

Automatic Attendant, wish answers all incoming calls with "press 1 if you're
a customer, press 2 if you're a customer we like...".

In our case, we have one phone number answered by Auto Attendant and a
second number that is always answered live. That way, if we have a
high-maintenance customer who does not like voice mail (and auto attendants)
they can get through. Conversely, all of my friends prefer the AA to a live
operator.

Just know what you are asking for, and one other thing:

Make sure "0" (zero) forwards to an operator. One company I know of
installed an AA system with mailboxes and had their sales drop by 50%
because their customers wanted to talk to someone right away, and they
forgot to program "0" to ring through.
