The foam also is a great OSEA prevention procedure for protecting your head
when you beat it against the wall (during Vantage conversions, software
upgrades, and disgruntled user calls).

I have Three 3Com SuperStack switches in my office
They all have 2 VERY LOUD Fans in them
I want to replace them with something quieter
I was wanting to know what size the fan is?
Anyone have any idea?
They are smaller than a power supply fan but I am not for sure of the
exact size.
I think they measure fans in Millimeters

There is a number on one of the fans which is 612NG but when I search
goggle on that, I get no where

Anyone replaced these or had one of 3COMS Switches open to know how big
these things are.

This noise in here is driving me nuts!

Thanks

Could they be 60mm, 12VDC? You can measure the vertical or horizontal and
get the size. What's the depth? 25mm and 15mm are the standards. If it's
something standard, I'll send you a couple "samples" (these little fans go
into some of the product we build).

James,

I too have 3 of the 3Com 3300 superstacks in my 10x14 office (formerly a
storeroom). Along with 3 servers, 3 UPS's, and various assorted PC's. It's
literally making me go deaf. I bought some accoustic sound-dampening foam
that they use in recording studios, but have not put it up yet. So I can't
say for sure how well it will work, but the people I bought it from say it
should quiet things down a lot. Auralex Studiofoam. Here's where I got it.
