Todd,
Depending on the application, I have one Linksys PSUS4 Print Server that is
a 4 port switch and print server. Setup was easy and install is also. It
has been flawless as a simple way to network a little office group and their
printer to the rest of the network. Cost is around the $50 mark also and
connectivity is USB.
Other than that one, I have to agree with the majority, I have several
flavors of HPs and they have been great also.
Good luck,
Aaron Hoyt

Subject: [Vantage] [OT] Ethernet to Parallel Print Servers - Opinions
Needed
Easy question. I'm still having occasional trouble with a couple Win98 PCs
sharing their printer on our new setup using a Win2K3-Server AD controller.
So...I am considering networking them directly but they have no ethernet
port. I've looked at ethernet to parallel print server devices and see a
bunch in the $130 price range which is far less than the time I've already
wasted. Both printers are HP 2xxx LaserJet.
Main concerns are setup of the drivers and sharing on our current dedicated
print server PC that now serves 4 printers and how to specify an IP address
for the ethernet to parallel device. Some look pretty small (like just
small plugs) so I am not sure about interfaces (web?) to set an IP for the
print driver on the server to refer to.
Anyone have a really easy to use favorite way to get a parallel cable based
printer on to the network?
Thanks,
