Subject: RE: [Vantage] [OT] Laptop Travel - IMPORTANT INFO
Scott,
I spoke with the FAA and its recommendation is to call the airline for these
details. Apparently, some are allowing carry-on baggage and some are not.
I have included the FAA's site below. They should have additional
information there.

FYI, some possible points to keep in mind if you will be flying.

Subject: [Vantage] [OT] Laptop Travel
I am in charge of the shared latptops our sales/engineers use. Several are
traveling this week and next and want to check them out. I need to advise
them on laptop security issues or perhaps to leave them here. I know
restrictions vary by location but wanted to get a sense for what, if
anything, anyone else has run into. I noticed on TV last night the large
table of items confiscated at security checkpoints. Nail clippers, rat tail
combs, scissors, etc... Also shown were CDs. I suppose you could break one
in half and make a sharp object. Has anyone heard definitely that CDs are
not allowed? I have also heard that all electronic items must be checked
and not carried on. As a rule I discourage our laptop users from checking
the PCs in their luggage due to theft risk.
Any advice from reputable sources (major papers, TV, etc..) would be
appreciated.
