OT - old one Blank Title 54351

Speaking of old aircraft, I saw an interview with the pilot of a B-52 who is
flying the same plane his father flew in Vietnam. Talk about a long life
cycle for an aircraft!

Thanks for the suggestion -- it is $1 per square foot, at that price, I can
buy the scanner and hire a temp for a month to scan them all in, and I still
have the wide format scanner at the end of the month...

All new drawings ARE being saved in final format pdf. It's these oldy-moldy
guys that contractually we have to keep for the life of the aircraft. Who
knew they'd last 20 or 30 years?

Thanks,
Lydia

One other thing.. I would recommend looking at using a service for
getting all the old drawings taken care of. This operates on the
assumption all new drawings are electronic, or legible at 11 x 17.

I know this has been discussed in the past but my way-back machine just
isn't what it used to be:

Anyone have any recommendations for brands of wide format
copier/scanners that can be attached to my network.

We had a demo of a Xerox one today, boss wasn't real happy with it...we
are up to d and e size drawings, we really want to be able to scan them
to a place on the network and not have to keep all of our legacy
drawings -- we have literally two rooms full.

Also, we have a new QC manager and he seems VERY interested in divesting
ourselves of certs and many other paper which we current file, so any
ideas on those lines are gratefully accepted.

Most important though is that large-size printer scanner. Currently have
the copier, but no scan capabilities.

Thanks a bunch,

Lydia

This is for the VB form experts out there. We are on 6.1 and we would like
to be able to look at a part in part tracker and know how many were used in
the last 12 months. Is there a way to do this through the VB form and a
script? It could be a field on the vb form itself it doesn't have to be on
the part tracker screen. But something better than having to go to Inventory
management and run the Inventory usage report. Anyone else already have
something like this?

I have been very happy with both of our Konica-Minolta
copier/scanners/network printers. But they only handle 11 x 17. Don't know
if they make a model for big drawings.

Ricoh, Kyoceramita, Xerox are all good brands for wide format
copiers. We currently have an old Xerox and are looking at
upgrading to a networked copier/printer with color that can handle
up to e size. Any local copier supply can provide information on
leasing or purchasing various models.

I second the motion for the Konica-Minolta. We have been leasing
various models for the last 4 years. The current machine does 11 x 17
full color scans as fast as a copy. Scans to pdf / tiff/ jpeg.
