I thought I should give this one some closure. Blame this one on the man
behind the curtain. After trying all your suggestions, I checked more
closely and noticed I'm running Outlook Express 5.1 on this machine - the
rest are on 6.0. At the time when I had upgraded the workstations to W2K
and added SP3 and ran windows update to get all the latest security patches
and program versions, I missed this particular workstation. I never did get
around to doing anything but SP3 on this machine - no updates. (I'm sure no
one else on this group gets their workday fragmented like that.) So Outlook
Express stayed at 5.1. And I remember hearing 5.1 had plenty of bugs - this
may have been one of them. Until I can do the updates, she deletes
everything in the inbox before she leaves for the day. Then she can access
everything from her deleted items folder.
Thanks for all the help.

Gary,
This can happen when the file which holds all the "Inbox" messages becomes
corrupted.
If Outloox Express detects a corruption it will re-create a new Inbox file.
If it detects a corruption in any of those files ( Sent Items, Drafts, etc.)
it will re-create the file as empty.
Which of course wipes out all of the messages you had in the paticular
folder.
If it is happening everyday, have you run a check on the hard disk?
Perhaps it has a bad area where the file keeps trying to write itself.

Anybody ever have Outlook Express losing its Inbox? Every morning, one
particular workstation loses all the messages in its Inbox. And the
"Welcome to Outlook Express" message is sitting there all by itself, as if
I
had just installed it. I've looked through the menus - can't figure what
it
might be. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
