OT: Win2k Server doesnt like specific workstation

I have a similar situation. I have an NT server SP5 (wins) and a W2K server (dns). Every once in a while the W2K server stops seeing the NT server. So I end up manually putting in the address of the NT server to force my W2K server to see it. Sometimes I also change the W2K server to log onto a workgroup instead of a domain to get it to communicate. After I do this, I then reboot, then change it back to a domain again. It almost always communicates again after that.

In my migration to a Win2k Server, I've encountered a WinNT SP6 workstation
that wont find the WIN2k Server. All the other workstations so far are good
to go. WIN95 WIN98, NT 4, and Win2k, are all happy campers. There is
nothing special or unusual about the unhappy workstation, just a basic
setup. (Other than it belongs to our Executive Vice Prez, go figure!) Any
clues as to the issue?

Summary: XA Virus Software on Server - Suggestions
Book: Support Solutions
Page: 181MPS

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

I am having problems with Progress when running virus scanning software on
the server.

How can I have a virus scanning program work on the server? I have
important data stored on the server and need to perform this function. What
is the best way to achieve this without causing performance problems with
Progress?

PROBLEM RESOLUTION:

It has been our experience that Virus software of any kind running on the
server will cause performance problems if not causing Prowin32 to GPF
continually.

If you do not wish to de-activate the virus scan software, the next best
thing would be to keep out of the DWC (3.0), Epicor (4.0), or Epic50 (5.0)
folders entirely. If Progress and Vantage are loaded on separate drives,
you could instruct the Virus software to ignore the entire drive.

Another option is to tell the virus software to ignore the following:
prowin32.exe
vantage.*
*.dbf and
*.vtg

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Version: 3.00, 4.00 and eManufacturing 5.00

Our NAV is on the applications server. I don't know that Norton causes a
conflict with Vantage, more that its constant scanning of all active files
really slows Vantage down. Can anyone elaborate?
