Electroimpact doesn't use Vantage Payroll. The Shop uses Data Collection;
everyone else enters their own timecards. I wrote the custom program to
prorate the dollar adjustments to job and indirect hours and generate the
Labor Adjustment File and ADP Import File from the Labor Header/Detail
tables. It also produces Payroll Reports that must match exactly with ADP's.
Epicor Custom Programming wrote the program to read the Labor Adjustment
File and Import them. Ironically, two entries were necessary for each
adjustment, one for the dollar amount with 1 hour, another for a zero amount
with -1 hour. This way, the hours are still accurate -- Vantage doesn't
allow a dollar-only adjustment.
Management dictated that Vantage Job Costs be accurate -- both in hours and
dollars -- for profit analysis and more accurate bidding on similar future
projects. This includes dollar adjustments for hourly overtime, shift
differentials, unpaid salaried overtime, salaried bonuses and pay rate
changes so Accounting doesn't have to worry about doing the pay change at
exactly the right moment. They can even apply a rate change after the hours
have been entered for our two-week period. We have two shifts plus a weekend
one.
