We are fairly new to Vantage, having been live since November 2000.
We have a situation with a Printed Circuit Card where we want to subcontract
most of the purchasing and assembly, receive it into the company for testing
prior to adding it to stock, but need to retain full details and part
numbers of all component parts.
My current thoughts are to have a part number with a BOM under it which is
specific to the subcontracted/in house tested assembly, and a separate,
non-stock part with the full BOM held for reference.
My tests have suggested that provided we don't pull the assembly into
Inspection on receipt into the company, it will go straight to the job.
Has anyone got any other suggestions on this scenario??
Also, if we add a new revision to a part that has a current stock level,
will Vantage consider the stock from the previous revision to be available
for use in the current part? - I recognise that this issue is in some ways
related to a current thread.
