Can someone advise what I am doing incorrectly. I am trying to setup phantoms in level 2 of a BOM.
If I am correct a phantom should be a group of items which then go into the assembly for the job as materials and not as an item.
I have marked the parts os Non stocked and phantom. I have also marked the site record as phantom.
In the top level engineering I have marked the materials as Pull As Assembly and View As Assembly.
Eveything looks OK in the Engineering Workbench.
However when I create a job the assemblies doesnt appear to be showing those materials.
As you can see in the example below materials 10,20,40 and 80 are all phantoms. However in the JOB they are simply not visible.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly received.
It looks to me like you created your Phantom BOM correctly⌠but then youâre trying to make a job specifically for that Phantom Part. I think, by definition, a Phantom Part should be INSIDE another part. It is something that gets made, but then consumed.
In part C060 which is the top level I want the materials from inside the phantom to appear and not the phantom item itself.
However the âGet Detailsâ process mentioned above doesnt appear to be getting the details from inside the phantom. Instead its not putting anything there.
I assume I must be missing something simple as phantoms\items are not new and not unusual for an ERP system.
I have also just tried without pull assembly ticked and only view but the same result. Nothing appears for the materials.
Could I be missing another step when creating the job which Explodes the phantoms into the jobs bom?
Oh, my bad, I saw C060 as the top level on both images and missed that you were highlighting a material in the first one.
But, if Iâm looking a the BOMâs correctly, in your ECO method, you have 13 materials.
In your job method you end up with 22. So the materials for your phantom parts become materials in the main job Asmbl 0.
Youâre not showing them, but I would assume the operations are doing the same. The operations inside you phantoms are getting added to the operations on the main assembly.
So, I think it IS listing all the materials that need to get issued to the job. (canât know for sure, since I donât know what materials are in your Phantom BOMs). The operations are (Iâm assuming) also on the job. As part of those operations, youâre going to use your âphantomâs materialsâ to build your phantom parts⌠which then immediately get consumed by the Parent assembly.
At least, thatâs the way I think it is supposed to work.
Yup, @dcamlin is correct. With phantom, the parent part number goes away (thatâs why itâs called phantom) and all of the parts of the phantom BOM go into the next level up. Operations and materials. So you wonât see the part number of the phantom assembly on the job, just the parts and operations that go into it.
You are quite right they all append to the Bottom of the BOM Obvious really when you think about it as you couldnât slot 10 items in to mtrl:10 position in the assembly.
