PO Receipt Question

I would think both. I think these fields are meant for unit of measure
conversion not receiving variances. But I never really thought about it
that way. See what the help says.

Yeah you are right. They must have done something really screwy with the
few that we have. I
can simulate the effect by receiving "Our quantity" of 3 when the vendor
quantity is left at 2. But of course, no one is fessing up to what they
really did

The only time I know of a problem is if the PO is closed. If you order 20
and receive 20 then get some more later, the PO will be closed. We have no
problem over receiving as long as the PO is still open.

Is there a way to receive over-shipments against a PO without adjusting the
original PO?

Today, if the receiver over-receives, it creates a PO/Std variance (Gee,
you got 2 for
free...) and then when it gets to AP, the payment is for the wrong quantity
and wrong total value.

Receiving is supposed to notify Purchasing to adjust the PO but they don't
always do this.

I was hoping for an "OK to accept over-shipments" option in the PO

They should be receiving always to the vendor quantity
field. If you have your conversion factors setup, then
Vantage will automatically convert to what you issue to
jobs, stock, whatever.

Even if you have a factor of one....the habit of using the
same field becomes less confusing.

Carl,

If you receive 5, you should receive 5 in both vendor qty & Our quantity.
If you put a different qty (say for example you only ordered 4, and put 4
for Our Qty), then you would have problems both with your inventory accuracy
and with the invoice matching. Accounting would only show that they need to
pay for 4. The receiving department would also have to look at where the
parts are going, if it's going to inventory it might not be a big deal just
to receive the extra one in (depending on price, and your usage of the
part). If it's expensive or going to a job, then Purchasing would
definitely need to be aware of it to change the PO to have the extra one go
to inventory, or return it to the supplier if it's not wanted. In either
case I would think the Purchasing department should know about it - if it's

Yeah you are right. They must have done something really screwy with the
few that we have. I
can simulate the effect by receiving "Our quantity" of 3 when the vendor
quantity is left at 2.
But of course, no one is fessing up to what they really did

The only time I know of a problem is if the PO is closed. If you order 20
and receive 20 then get some more later, the PO will be closed. We have no
problem over receiving as long as the PO is still open.

We are in 6.0

Is there a way to receive over-shipments against a PO without adjusting the
original PO?

Today, if the receiver over-receives, it creates a PO/Std variance (Gee,
you got 2 for
free...) and then when it gets to AP, the payment is for the wrong quantity
and wrong total
value.

Receiving is supposed to notify Purchasing to adjust the PO but they don't
always do this.

I was hoping for an "OK to accept over-shipments" option in the PO
