305 was probably a year ago for us when we 1st started Piloting (before going live - now on 404).
I remember what you are describing as being true - but (in our process & typical daily conditions) it was a capability we would not use anyway (and would-not/do-not now).
Because we just don't/wouldn't use it, I can't tell you if it has been addressed by now on 404.
I DO recall that our consultant did say (on 305) it was a bug.
Have you checked the Epicor site to see if they have it listed as a bug - or perhaps have better documentation on the process (than the less than stellar Help files) that might enable you to determine if you ARE missing some key set up configuration, data that would get it working for you?
Some of Vantage's imbedded archane business process rules could be getting in your way. Probably too obvious examples might be:
(1) Buyers aren't set up with full PO Approval rights (or have rights to approve up to a $ amount that is routinely exceeded by your real world conditions. (Shouldn't matter for the intent of the capability - but numerous things in Vantage don't make 'real world' sense and are retained logic or db table structure relationships from prior versions that 'get in the way' in unexpected places.)
(2.) Parts are set up to require an RFQ before placing a PO (even though you already have Price Lists in place that are with approved vendors and are within their effective date range).
I'd definitely check the Epicor site...

It doesn't matter how many times we try this but it just doesn't appear
to work, and we then have to select lines to purchase manually by
clicking on the "buy" check box. This is tedious!

quantity, purchasing factor and UOM in place, but the auto select
option just does nothing.
Has anybody else seen this problem or are we doing something wrong ??
