We use Seiko Smart Printers, 2.125 x 4 labels and a custom Progress program
and Excel (to display the labels). We use a value team 3080 WelchAllyn
scanner to read this labels.
This system is very inexpensive ($300 or less for the printer and under $200
for the barcode readers). One issue: These printers have a maximum
resolution of 200 DPI, which is why we have to use 4" long labels for
PartNum, LotNum and Remnant Size. Remnant Size helps us keep track of pieces
without using Vantage's DimCode feature.
Sometime in the future, I'll be looking at high-resolution label printers to
get the size down (for our smaller parts) and the amount of information up
(for material going to jobs).
Good Luck! Barcodes save a lot of time but require careful planning to get
them to work.

Subject: [Vantage] Printing Labels From Vantage
Does anybody currently print despatch or stock labels directly from
Vantage. We're currently implementing these parts of Vantage and are
wondering what hardware and media people are currently using.
Many thanks and a happy new year to you all.
