I’m glad to see it isn’t just me that struggles with all the bugs in the Kinetic BAQ Designer!
I have not tried the classic client version, maybe I should. Maybe it can export short dates to Excel or some other useful feature?
Incidentally, I logged the fault of the relationship fields swapping order randomly meaning the “And” came against the first field leading to a SQL error when testing but after some discussion was given the “Solution” that it wasn’t a bug…
I try to do all my designing in Kinetic (copied a SQ from another BAQ yesterday–nice!) but I have to go to Classic to do any data analysis. Kinetic Run Query does not have Show Summaries, doesn’t show item counts when grouping, and the browser can’t handle opening and closing groups so Classic is ESSENTIAL for any data analysis.
Iv’e looked for the Classic version of BAQ Designer on Live, Third and Pilot but I cannot find it.
I seem to recall I had to create the menu item for Report Style Classic as it was missing from Live, I am wondering if BAQ Designer Classic is the same.
Can anyone tell me the menu item details to make it visible please?
Just started experiencing this one recently and it is so frustrating. It is hard enough to figure out how to make the BAQ in the first place, then once I get it. I can’t save it, and I have to make sure I remember every step and then close everything, reopen it and redo it all again.
I’ve only learned Epicor on Kinetic, so Classic screens are weird for me, but there are pretty bad flaws in the Kinetic BAQ editor that still upset me requiring saves and refreshes to get it to behave the way I’d expect.
I wonder if you (or someone) could build off of the design of @josecgomez’s Function Execution Tester app to dynamically create a grid for any baq in an app. Shouldn’t be necessary, but might be a neat little tool.
Just stumbled on this thread… so am I reading it just is what it is? I’m trying to show average days to pay and if they don’t have any payment details it shows 0, which is obviously not true cause they haven’t even paid yet. So no NULL in kinetic BAQ grid results?
If you put it into Excel from there, you should see what you expect (i.e. accurate data).
But on the screen? Basically no. Half the time it’s straight up baffling (i.e. when long text is wrapped, then the other columns are blank) and the other half of the time, it’s kind of discernable (when text is not wrapped).
I still use the browser BAQ designer 99-100% of the time. But it has… quirks.
Null numeric values display as zero. Characters and dates will show null. I submitted a case with Epicor listing most of the above issues, and I included this one that @aosemwengie1 brought up. So far, noone has even picked up the case … and it’s been almost two weeks …
I will keep saying it . . . Baq needs to be part of power tools. I still use the browser when I can but its crucial to be able to fall back to classic when it doesn’t work, which is frequently. I’ve given up entering ideas which epicor flatly rejects. Support doesn’t care. Not sure how to get Epicor’s attention on this.
