Progress DB to SQL DB Conversion

Good info there, Ned.   Thank you!

I know this has been talked about before, but I cannot find anything about it.  Has anyone done the conversion from Progress to SQL?  If so, how long did the migration take on our database?  How big was your database?  Are you seeing any transnational performance enhancements?

I have done it a few times for various customers, the time varies depending on DB size and server speed.

I have always been able to get it done in less than 60 hours, but it varies really on so many different factors.

DB size changes for example Progress >> SQL

8GB >> 14 GB

12GB >> 25GB

16GB >> 28GB

27GB >> 45GB

47GB >> 196GB

Until that last one, I had always gone with a general estimate of SQL being 2X as big.

Performance wise, I am not sure, I just know that most customers did it because they were more SQL than Progress for internal talent and they wanted to be able to use SSRS and do other integrations(sharepoint/IIS) with the Epicor DB versus dealing with the Progress Platform.
