Progress or SQL?

During one of the breakout sessions at Perspectives on
Vantage 8 a quick poll was taken on who in the room
was on SQL and who was on Progress. Of about 80-100
attendees only 2 were on SQL. As I understand it you
only need SQL if you are using the Advanced Printing
module. I also heard that Progress is doing a major
release in about 4 months that will make it even
faster.

Obviously MS-SQL is gaining market share in the Vantage world vs Progress
for the database.

I don't have any hard numbers for installs although it seems like 98% of
V6.1 and prior installs are Progress while new installs seem to be more
inclined to go with MS-SQL.

Any opinions out there on what the future will bring?
By the time Vantage-V9 is released will MS-SQL be the preferred database?
If you are currently on Progress at what point might you consider switching
to MS-SQL?
How much of a speed advantage does Progress have over MS-SQL?
Does third party software integration with MS-SQL tip the scales away from
Progress?

If you were going to buy the product --today-- which DB would you use?

Etc. etc. etc. ??????????????????
