Progress: .p and .r files

You can go to www.progress.com for additional answers.

Select Support à Knowledgebaseà OpenEdge

In the search box, you can type in your question, such as intelligent edit
control or autocompletion

The Progress 4GL (query) license that you have is very powerful but requires
a lot of coding. The Progress ABL AP Builder is event driven and makes it a
lot easier to developed screens, combo boxes, buttons, etc.

Thanks Ross.

When going through the 4GL handbook, the examples show the progress
editor with "intelligent edit control" and it claims it can do
autocompletion, but when I type, I don't see any of these features. Is
this because we only get a dumbed down version or progress editor from
Epicor?

Joe,

'r' files are compiled 'p' files.

Yes, you can create them using the Procedure Editor. You can get to it
by
first selecting Desktop on the OpenEdge menu. It is an icon on the bar.

The best primer I have found is the 4GL handbook by John Sadd.

Hello,

We have Epicor 9.04 and OpenEdge 10.1C

With these products installed, do I have everything we need to create .p
and .r files?

If yes, how do I create these type of programs and can anyone recommend
a good primer document to get me started?

My understanding is that .r files are just compiled .p files. Is that
correct?

Thanks in advance!

I use Pro-Vision (vantage 6.10.541) and I don't see intelligent control either, there may be a setting that I don't have set properly - I never looked.
