It's my hope that Epicor will provide a solution for this going forward. If it
is necessary to do a mass uninstall of Progress before upgrading (something I
often do to ensure a clean upgrade to a next release) then performing a registry
edit for 100 workstations would be, in my opinion, unacceptable.

Yanked the main key out of the registry and reinstalled and it worked.
Thanks to everybody for the quick response. OK, back to the rest of the W2K
upgrade. Fixing little hinks this am. On to the servers. Thanks again.

Rather than delete all registry entries, you can make a list of the progress
dll's and ocx's you find while searching through the registry. There will
be entries for the mapped drive letter, as well as the full UNC pathname
Then, you copy the vantage unregocx.bat file, and add regsvr32 entries to
the file. When you run the bat file, this will allow windows to unregister
the files in a clean manner, and will also provide you with an uninstall bat
file for future occurances of having to manually uninstall.
However, I am not certain if this method deletes all the progress keys in
the software tree. Only after having run the copied and modified
unregocx.BAT file would I then carefully delete all other keys containing
progress.

What Epicor walked me through on a Win2K machine was... Search for 9.1A or
9.1C in the registry (depending on your progress version) and delete the
DATA (not the key), or if it's a folder, delete the whole folder. This
worked for me and I was then able to install progress on that machine.

Subject: [Vantage] Progress won't uninstall
Has someone encountered this? We upgraded our workstations to W2K last
night (upgraded, not fresh install). Vantage wasn't working on one of the
workstations. It wouldn't allow me to uninstall Progress so that I could
reinstall it. When I try to reinstall Progress, it keeps telling me
previous version of Progress needs to be uninstalled. When I try to
uninstall it, it can't find the necessary files to uninstall it. I don't
know if I need to pull anything out of the registry or not. Any ideas?
Thanks.
