We will probably be ok with just one vendor per part I think Rob. We
tend to place longer term PO's on individual vendors, that we then
want to pull in as and when required rather than have MRP push it all
the time. I guess that the ideal with the vendor is that the next
rolling 2-weeks requirements are firm, and after that it can float
around in response to changes in demand. I am hoping that PO
contracts will assist here.
We have found that trying to manage PO suggestions is almost
impossible, and far from helping us, running a generic MRP system is
actually taking the business backwards. This is not a good thing!
I will be very interested to hear how you get on... If it looks good
we will probably go ahead and buy it...
