Report Data Definition help needed

Is your DSN different for the computer you are creating the subreports on vs. the computer the other ODBC Reports were made on?

We were using sub-reports as well until we figured out how to modify the
report data definitions.

The only limitation I've found is that you can add tables up to two levels
deep. Beyond that and they simply don't return anything

So if you added the tables OrderHed -> OrderDtl -> OrderRel the OrderRel
table wouldn't show up at all.

Not sure if this is by design or not.

I'll be interested to see if it works for you. I had to create a sub report
to pull the ShipHead.TrackingNumber into the ARForm. (we dont use EDI).

Vantage 8.03.408A Progress

I need some help adding data to a RDD. The RDD is EDIARFrm and the data I need to add to it is ShipHead.TrackingNumber and ShipHead.ShortChar01. I duplicated the RDD and added the ShipHead table, but I can't figure out how to set up the relationships.

Any Ideas?
Add a new relationship

Give it a name and description

Select the parent table that you are linking your new table to

Select the ShipHead as the child

If you can use an existing index, great, otherwise save and add the columns
to join on below on this relationship.

Save everything. Rerun the report using the new definition.

Open Crystal and point it to the XML you just produced.

Your ShipHead table should be in there.

Go into Database Export and add the new table and join it and you should be
all set.

Thanks Sean. I thought you had to have a key specified and that was hanging me up.

As it turns out I went with a different approach. We already have code in place to send out shipping notifications when an Invoice is created. I made a quick addition to the 4GL code and dropped the tracking and shipvia information into shortchar01 and shortchar02 field of the invoice header. Now I don't need to modify the RDD, I only have to add a couple of links to my outbound EDI map. It also has the added benefit in that I can now display this information on the printed invoice with just a small modification to the Crystal Report. Up until now, we have had to copy and paste this information into the Invoice header comments, not a big deal but every little bit helps.
