Report frustrations

That's the same route I took, we're on ver 6.10, one drawback is each user's 'Launch Script' has to have the 'ODBC' info included, sometimes they use old 'icons' and have trouble printing Quotes.

I have modified the report and added an ODBC connection to retrieve the
email address.

Did you ever find a resolution/work around for this. I am trying to
do the same thing.

What was Epicor thinking in not bringing the Primary Contact's email
onto the Quote form??!!??

Vantage and Crystal guru's:

Need to modify the Vantage Quote Form Crystal report but fail to
understand a few constraints.

I need the customer email address for APM automation but the
@APMCustEmail (quotehed.Calc_Email) does not pull any data. The
Calc_CustPhone, Calc_CustFax, etc. populate as expected. I assume
that the SDK is needed to view, modify, or create calculated fields.
Am I correct?

Also, when customizating the Quote form, the People\Contacts\Detail
sheet will list the data source/field as "QuoteCnt.EmailAddress" but
the QuoteCnt table doesn't actually contain the "email" field. Why in
the heck does Epicor do this?

I guess I will keep looking...
In 8.03.404A, Standard QuotForm

It is getting the email @APMCustEmail from the Customer --> detail
screen not from QuoteHed.

If you modify the Customer email the next quote print will display the
new email address.

The Quote --> People --> Contacts -->Detail email address is coming from
the Customer --> Contacts --> Detail email address.

If you modify the customer contact email and refresh the quote screen
people contact email will change.

I am guessing this is done so if the customer changes the emails you do
not have to fix dozens/x number of quotes.

Hope this helps.

This has been an issue with us. We quote different people at the same company depending on the project. Unfortunately, Vantage/Vista can't show the actual email address of the person we are sending the quote to. Our workaround is to include the email address in the comments. Epicor's suggested workaround was to set up each person we quote to at a company as a separate customer!!! I'm at least happy to know we are not the only ones who have this situation.

A better way to handle this would be to allow a separate contact to be set up for each person at the company (that we can do now). Then, allow us to select one of the alternate contacts when we issue a quote (that is what we cannot do - can only select the primary contact). That should be a very simple fix.

Yes, 8.03.403 (Vista). The contacts do not even show up in the contact drop down list on the Contact tab under the People tab, unless the person is the primary billing contact. I have one customer with seven contacts, none primary. When I start a new quote, no one is available for that customer in the contact drop down list.

We called Epicor support and this is apparently the way the software is supposed to function (according to the support person). Is this wrong, and should we call again to talk to someone different?

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Report frustrations

This has been an issue with us. We quote different people at the same
company depending on the project. Unfortunately, Vantage/Vista can't
show the actual email address of the person we are sending the quote to.
Our workaround is to include the email address in the comments. Epicor's
suggested workaround was to set up each person we quote to at a company
as a separate customer!!! I'm at least happy to know we are not the only
ones who have this situation.

A better way to handle this would be to allow a separate contact to be
set up for each person at the company (that we can do now). Then, allow
us to select one of the alternate contacts when we issue a quote (that
is what we cannot do - can only select the primary contact). That should
be a very simple fix.

Subject: {Disarmed} RE: [Vantage] Report frustrations

In 8.03.404A, Standard QuotForm

It is getting the email @APMCustEmail from the Customer --> detail
screen not from QuoteHed.

If you modify the Customer email the next quote print will display the
new email address.

The Quote --> People --> Contacts -->Detail email address is coming from
the Customer --> Contacts --> Detail email address.

If you modify the customer contact email and refresh the quote screen
people contact email will change.

I am guessing this is done so if the customer changes the emails you do
not have to fix dozens/x number of quotes.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Vantage] Report frustrations

Yes, we are on 8.03.404b.

I can select any defined customer contact I want for the quote
(People\Contacts) and the phone and fax numbers for this contact will
print on the quote but the email address of the "contact" will not.
The email address for the quote will pull from the customer detail screen.

I am trying to use APM to automate the delivery of the quote but the
person initiating the process will "assume" that the email address of
the "quote contact" will be the recipient.

In most situations, we send quotes to various customer contacts and
cannot use the only email address assigned on the customer detail screen.

At the very least, it should be consistent. The phone, fax, and email
address should ALL pull from either the contact OR customer detail.

Did you ever find a resolution/work around for this. I am trying to
do the same thing.

What was Epicor thinking in not bringing the Primary Contact's email
onto the Quote form??!!??

I have modified the report and added an ODBC connection to retrieve the
email address.
