Reports

Yes, you can acquire Corvu, but it is my opinion that Corvu's real benefit to Epicor customers was PRIOR to the ability to so easily create BAQ's as an end-user.

I also run 8.03.400 and I run the shopvision analytical cubes, which are delivered from Epicor.
These include cash flow, customer shipping performance, plant performance, sales backlog analysis, and supplier performance.
These are 3-dimensional cubes, and not the typical BAQ's. don't remember which module these came with, however...maybe SRM?

Look in the help files for EXECUTIVE ANALYSIS for Epicor's explanation of these cubes.

We are running Vista 8.03.403C. I have been severely disappointed with the out-of-the-box reports. There are virtually no analytical tools built in. (I work in purchasing) Does anyone have any reports/baq's/dashboards they have written that they would like to share that would help track vendor performance. It shocks me that there is no way using built in tools to track reciept vs due date or reject rates thru inspection.Anyone that has any tools they are willing to share, your help would be greatly appreciated.Adam RifferIQuum, Inc.

Hi all,

is there a way to load the reports, which come standard with Vantage,
into the reportbuilder or Crystal ?... i want to see the fields and
tables they use.

Thanks

Hi Everybody,

I need 2 reports:

1) Open Job report- with Customer Name with Job#
2) Actual Gross report- with Job# and Actual Gross

Rather than spend a lot of time creating these reports I thought I'd ask
this group first. I'm on Vantage 3.00.627 and Crystal 6
Anybody have either of these?
Does anybody have a report, like a job status report that also has
the start date of the job.

Also does anybody have a something like a shipping report, which only
list jobs that have 100% of the operations complete.

If so could you forward it to me please.

Thank you for your help in advance.
Venky:

Currently, Vantage doesn't store the "start date" of the job. You could use
one of your user field date fields for that purpose, though.

If the final operation of a job is marked as the "final operation", then
completed in data collection, the job will appear on the "candidates for
closure" list.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Lydia

We no longer allow attachments to files. To access/share Report Files,
please go to the following link: http://www.egroups.com/files/vantage/

choose Vantage, then choose Files. If you save the password, the link above
will work the next time you try it.)
We put in two data collection operations on the "0" Assembly level of
the job traveler. The first operation is "Job Release" which in effect
is the start date. The office clerk issues the job to the floor as the
start and then signs off the data collection. Our last operation is
like Lydia's company where our Pack-out manager then completes the data
entry for "Job Completion:.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has or knows how to create report that will
give the following info:

Part Number, On hand Quantity, Last time part was shipped to customer

or

A report that would tell me what parts have NOT been purchased in a
specified period (for example 1 year)

I have been trying for 5 years now to get a report like this. Someone
please be my hero!

De Anna,

What version of Vantage are you running?

I have a ranked sales report that shows Current Year and Last Year Sales for
All Stock Parts sorted and ranked by shipped qty. Thus it would show you
parts in the Part file that have not been purchased this year and last.

Give me more details if this report will not work.

Darren

I was wondering how everyone handles giving users access to custom reports?
We have a lot of custom reports. I find it tedious to add them to Vantage.
It also makes the report menu very long. Is there any other options short
of letting them run reports directly from Report Builder. Also how do you
handle security for Report Builder? I have spoken to Epicor about security
and I have not liked the response.

The only report builder reports we allow users to access come off of the
reports that I put on the menus. I don't even give them access to the
CUSTOM REPORTS list, because of accounting reports. While it may be tedious
to add each and every report to the menu the pay off is better security.

About two-thirds (approx. 50) of our reports run automatically on a timer
and printed to specific printers, files (TXT, PDF or HTML) and or e-mail.
The other 25 are added directly to the vantage menus under the sections that
they apply to so that security for that section also applies to the report.
Any other reports are run from the MIS department upon request.

How are you running reports on a timer? Are they RB or crystal, or both? I

To shorten the Vantage menu, add folders that organize the Custom Reports.

For example, in Jobs, Reports I have added Folders for WatchDog and Drafter.
As a rule, if I have more than 4 Custom Reports added to a section and they
are related, I add a Folder.

Under Menu Struture Maintenance, it's called Sub-menu.

They are all Report Builder Reports and the timer is a small Application is
"AutoRpts".

At the present time I have not played around with CR other than modifying
the canned reports to meet our requirements. Just not in the mood to mess

You can add them to the report areas under eMFG.
You can create subfolders your self to better organize them.
Tedious is right, I currently have 550 listed on the menu structure.

I have turned in suggestions to enhance this process.
Custom Report Link Maintenance program XAM94-dg.w
1) SORT the report Drop Down List.
2) Populate the DESCRIPTION FIELD with the report name selected.
This is currently a modification I maintain myself.

Explaining this simple improvement was difficult for tech support to
interpret and write up it also would rank low on anyone's improvement list
or user group ranked list. The funny thing is under the Progress APPLICATION
BUILDER you double click on the REPORT drop down list, under properties
check the sort box, save and compile the program and item 1 is fixed. Any
Epicor development people listening?

De Anna:

I have created Report Sub-Menus (example: Eng-Reports, Contract Admin
Reports), this gives me the capability of locking down the security. We
have over a hundred custom reports, and there are about 8 other "watchdog"
reports that aren't on the menu at all, I run them periodically to check
things like "all manufactured parts must have product code/group."

Personally, I wouldn't give any but the most trusted users (I can think of
one here and we have 30 users), access to Report Builder. For one thing, it
uses another seat of Vantage when it is open. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY-it gives
them full access to the database. It is too easy, in my opinion, for
someone with a little knowledge to create what Mark Pladson at Epicor calls
"something swirly." Lock up the database, manipulate the data to make it
look like one thing is happening when it is really something else, send
Report Builder to think in Gumby-land for 2.75 hours. Maybe I'm a control
freak, but it gives me comfort to know that I am the one who ultimately is
responsible for any of the Report Builder reports out there-cause I'm the
one who'll have to fix it if it's wrong.

It's tedious to add them, tedious to update with the next level of Vantage,
but it's much more complicated to explain to the president of the company
why that report written by production control doesn't REALLY show all the
jobs! Or shows everything 4 times!

So that's how I REALLY feel!

We to are very concerned with the security issues entailed with
reportbuilder (primarily the utter lack of security)

There's the report engine and the report editor. Supposedly, as per Epicor,
if you change the permissions on the report editor, you can give certain
users only read access to reports, so they can't save a bin box label report
as a different name, and add to it employee hours and pay rates.

However, implementing that fix prevented even our administrators from
creating reports.

What we are probably going to end up doing is going with the crystal / ODBC
/ Web interface when we upgrade to V5. In this model, there is One ODBC
connection to the database, which publishes report to a web server. The
reports can be read with any internet browser, and will automatically prompt
the user to download the appropriate plugin to view the reports. (absolute
minimal client configuration, with larger amount of server configuration)

The permissions on the individual reports could be managed by windows NT,
rather than vantage.

As an alternative (more client config, less server config), an ODBC
connection on the client, running compiled crystal reports is more secure
than running Report Builder reports. However, there seem to be some holes
there as well, and Crystal is discontinuing support of it's compiled reports
in future versions.

To answere the main question, "how everyone handles giving users access to
custom reports?": We don't at this particular time.

Best Regards,

Thaddeus

after a backup restore of version 3, we converted to version 4. Now
whenever we try to run a custom report, we are getting an error that
says the menu.prl cannot be found in the directory...which is not the
correct directory of where our libraries our. I opened the report in
report builder and saved it with the new parameters and services and
am still getting this error. Is there anywhere else in the system I
need to look at to change the path of the reports?
Thanks
If you are trying to run them from a Vantage menu,
then you need to change the definition of the
Custom Report in the menu structure. Under Master File
Maintenance, there is a Custom Report Link that tells what
PRL file to use, and what Report to use out of that PRL.
Hope this helps.
