Running the server from a workstation

I use both REMOTE ADMINISTRATOR product and RDP..

One thing about RDP though....I always launch it from the run menu as MSTSC -CONSOLE so that I see the desktop as I would from the console if I were working on the machine directly.

Makes life easier.

I RDP to the server from my desk. You need to install the remote connection on the server and then it is automatic from XP clients (under Accessories - Communication). It is an optional install on Win2K clients. I'm sure a number of you are like me and hate having to run to the server for everything.

So I am wondering if anyone works on their Vantage server from a workstation rather than running all the way to the server to do whatever.

Remote desktop here. Then it's like you're working at the server but
from any terminal you want.

Ditto on the Remote Desktops. If you search on Microsoft's site for
["Remote Desktops" Windows XP], you can find a snap-in for MMC that will
install on XP that allows you to add multiple connections to different
servers which makes it a breeze to manage multiple servers.

We also use RDP to remote onto all of our servers; no negatives to speak
of.
