Sales Order with no lines?

Why not just create a single line sales order with a misc part? You can
type in anything for the part# & description, doesn't have to be in your
part master. You mention "research charge" - could be entered as 7.5
hours with the price per hour if you wanted to get fancy.

But a misc invoice does seem simpler, that's what we do.

Good Day Charlie:

Wanted to use a SO just so that it will show in Grids that display
sales to the customer vs. invoices to the customer; if no SO then that
"Business" with the customer does not show as part of his Sales-Volume.

Manage-2000 allowed a G\L line - that is, you put the G\L# in as the

doing it that way.

Also, in some cases might want to do Quote and I assume the quote is
the same.

Can you process a SO with no lines but has Miscellaneous-Charges?

Does anyone do that?

We need to charge the customer for some time spent researching
something, so there is nothing to 'ship'. We have an Misc-Charge code
for that, but you need a SO to attach it to; but that SO would have no
lines.

Possible Solutions:

1. Part-on-the-fly - have problems since the salesmen must indicate the
G\L codes and we found that a big problem.

2. A non-qty-Bearing Part# "Research Charge" - put that on the SO-Line,
but that has a GM of 100% since no cost.

3. SO with no lines - can that be shipped and invoiced - Helpline is
chasing.

4. Some sort of "Dummy" line with Price = 0, then add Misc-Charge.

Any one doing any of the above?
