Scheduling Reports

I am using Vantage 8.0. I agree that custom reports built from scratch cannot be done this way. Epicor's reports, whether Crystal or non-Crystal, can be scheduled this way, including their Crystal Reports that you have customized.

A couple of questions about scheduling reports in Vantage 8:

1. Can custom Crystal reports be scheduled? It doesn't appear to be
possible.

2. Can users schedule a report at an arbitrary time of their
choosing? It appears that only the the schedules that are setup in the
System Agent are available for them. Do we create a bunch of "run once"
schedules for every half-hour around the clock? Since running reports
slow down interactive response times so much, we will probably depend
heavily on off-hours scheduling (we're not live yet).

We use it here.

You can schedule reports within Vantage.

First you create a schedule and then you invoke it when you print a report.

Go to System Management / Utilities / System Agent.

Click on Agent ID to search for, and open, the one system agent.

From there you can go to the Schedules tab to see what schedules are already created, and can use the New button to create a new schedule.

When you print a report, one of the options is "Schedule". That combo box is populated with the schedules you create. Also click the "Recurring" box.

I got word back from Epicor that no, it can't be done. Only custom
Crystal reports that have this limitation. The ones the system knows
about can be scheduled but I find it odd that you have to go setup a
schedule in the system agent first.
