I am looking for a solution on how to enter a engineering fee as a line item on a sales order instead of using the miscellaneous charge function. It is neither purchased or manufactured, we now accomplish this by putting it in as a non-stock on the fly line item but it creates a job that we have to close out to be able to ship. We want to just have the line item but not have a job or purchase suggestions show up. Is anybody doing something similar to this for service line item fees?

If you setup a part number for this and then set the part as purchased, stock, Qty Bearing off, turn off MRP and PO suggestions. I would also create a special part class (Billing Parts) as well.
You will need to ship it to invoice.
