This is a know issue.
Every time you save a line it refreshes the tree view all over.
The more lines you have the slower it gets.
Â
The biggest help was making sure the server had enough ram. Then make sure that it has been tuned to use the correct amount of that ram for database buffers.
It will make a large difference if you do not have enough ram and enought database buffers.

Hi, Posting this one again, as the original thread appears to be gone! Fortunately I had cut and pasted the thread to email... I'm including one reply I received from Brian W. Spolarich also:

Subject: [Vantage] Slow Opportunity/ Quote Entry in 8.03.405A
Hi. Our quote team are extremely frustrated at the length of time it takes to do
anything (add parts, delete parts, change operation details, saving). As I've
read in other posts about other modules, Vantage gets more sluggish once 45 or
more lines are in the quote.
It's taking 10-15 seconds to save the quote after altering a resource on an
operation. This is with a 3GHz CPU (hyperthreading turned off), 2GB RAM, which
appears to be in line with specs recommended in other posts. Similar times are
reported for deleting materials, or dragging and dropping parts from other
quotes.
(When a quote is small, and all is running well, 3-4 seconds is more normal...
But many of our quotes are large, and segmenting them all is not an option.)
Any thoughts? Is this 'normal'? What can we try? Security settings?
What we are currently experimenting with is removing/disabling tabs etc that we
don't use, which does seem promising. Anyone had success with this? Thanks.

We made things much better in .405 MSSQL by making our schema holder databases
read-only.
