[SPAM] - RE: Setting up a new global alert in 5.10.13

Schedule the report to run the report in export format to a text file (look in your src\aderb\examples for examples), then after the report has been run, read in the text file and send it out as an e-mail.

I'm doing it through Report Builder and AutoRpts. AutoRpts is designed to schedule and run Report Builder reports and Progress procedures during off hours. I just design the reports as a e-mail format and save it to the daily.prl library (or other prl depending upon the schedule it needs to be run at). Then every morning at 3AM the reports run automatically and send out the e-mails or print at their saved printer destination.

Michael,

I like your second idea. How would I go about creating a report that
automatically gets emailed?

Todd

Create an application to run on the server that refreshes a query every
minute (or longer). If there appears new data at the top of the query,
process it by sending an e-mail notification to an assigned person or
run a report and print the output to a specific network printer.

Another option is to schedule a report at night to combine all specific
alerts into one e-mail and send it out or print it to a specific network
printer. So in stead of a user getting 20 e-mails for 20 different job
changes, the user gets one e-mail in the morning listing all job changes
for the previous day.

I do both of the above methods and do not use Vantage's global alerts at
all. Doing this since Vantage 3.0 and it has been working great for us.

From the recent "BAM Class 101" thread, I'm wondering if it's possible
to add new global alerts in Vantage 5.10.132. Specifically, I'm
interested in sending a global alert when a Corrective Action is
assigned. If I can't do it through this version of Vantage, is there
another way?

Thanks,
