SQL Version Compatibility Matrix

I apologize again for asking what I feel is simple but searching for an answer is futile in our new AI world.

In short, have a 2022 SQL server, running with Kinetic 2024.1. I inherited this.

Is it safe to apply latest GDR update? Currently it is sitting at:

Microsoft SQL Server 2022 (RTM-GDR) (KB5046861) - 16.0.1135.2 (X64) Oct 18 2024

Of course, backup, snapshots at the Hypervisor level will be done.

Predecessor was gun shy about this.

Thanks

I skipped the 2024 version, but have never experienced a SQL update causing a problem with Kinetic.

I don’t believe the certification/compatibility matrix has ever specified anything at the patch level. We apply SQL patches somewhat regularly and have never seen an issue that I’m aware of.

Epicor doesn’t certify individual SQL patches. Generally they are fine though. Microsoft usually does a pretty good job with SQL updates. Just make sure you have a backup.

Never had any issues from applying updates and fixes for our SQL server that host the Kinetic database.

The only issue we have had is text data type deprecation. We use outside applications that are hitting Epicor and this caused somethings to break.

Pretty sure Epicor states the latest available update for the compatible version.

The second paragraph of the resolution.
