Stock Status Report and Purchasing

A job adjustment to material requires a material be attached to the job
and you would be adjusting that material item. If you had no material,
you would have to add some phantom material "MATERIAL" or the like to
the job, then you could do the job adjustment. Sounds like more work
than it's worth.

Newbie question. Why can't you trigger a job adjustment?

Subcontract Machined Complete (or something along that line). No part
involved. No Inventory. Cost hits as subcontract rather than materials.

If you want it to hit as materials, you must buy direct or use
inventory. If you want the part as a material for engineering, the part
must be in your master.

Best I can do.

I know the answer to this, but my boss claims otherwise, so I need to
hear this from you!

Is there a way to buy a part, not have it be part of inventory, and
still have it's cost hit my job?

Here is the kink, I do not want to purchase direct to my jobs (don't ask
why, it is what it is, and it is TOO long of a story to tell through
email).

You can do it, but there is a chance the costs hits a variance account
if you forget to do this first.

At the end of the day that would become more work than needed.
