Hi All,

Curious if anyone has created a button or used context menu maintenance so when clicked it will open Time and Expense entry and pull in the current employee who is active in Employee Maintenance. I have tried it both ways and so far I can't get it to work.

Any help appreciated,

-Ted
Never tried but it sounds like a challenge!

So it turns out that Time and Expense Entry doesn't use a Foirm Load to
load an employee in. So the only way to do this would be with a
Customization on Both Forms

Button on Employee Maint
Receiving on Time and Epexense.

Yes it is, I have been trying on and off today and so far nothing. I have it passing the employee ID from Employee Maintenance to Time and Expense (easy part). But from there it gets cloudy. I think it is tricky because (if you notice) when you open Time and Expense Entry it automatically pulls in the current users employee ID.

After doing traces, these are the three methods that are called, either when the form loads or when you type in an employee # and then tab out...

EmpBasic.GetByIDForTE
Labor.GetRowsCalendarView
ProdCal.GetByID

This seems to partially work but I still get an object not set to an instance of an object error, but it seems to load everything except the production calendar?

On form load...

         oTrans.GetEmp(TimeExpenseForm.LaunchFormOptions.ValueIn)

There is an oTrans method:

oTrans.GetProdCal()

So I tried placing this before and after oTrans.GetEmp, but doesn't seem to affect anything, still the error.

Got it. After thinking about it I guessedthat the object that was not instantiated was the calendar control that ProdCal.GetByID references. So rather than in the form load event, I used the Form.Activated event. Anyone see an issue with doing it this way?

Private Sub TimeExpenseForm_Activated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal args As EventArgs) Handles TimeExpenseForm.Activated
If Not (TimeExpenseForm.LaunchFormOptions Is Nothing) Then
If Not (TimeExpenseForm.LaunchFormOptions.ValueIn Is Nothing) Then
         oTrans.GetEmp(TimeExpenseForm.LaunchFormOptions.ValueIn)
         End If
      End If
   End Sub
