Time Phase and MRP part required qty calculations

Good morning everyone,

We’re having an issue with “SOME” part, all component parts, where MRP is suggesting we build parts where there’s no demand. I’ve included screen shots below of a component part that we’re having problems with.

From the screen shot above you notice the balance increases all the way to 330.00 pcs and never nets out to ‘0’.

Here’s the top half of that same Time Phase:

Does anyone have any ideas on why MRP is doing this and how to fix this issue?

I appreciate any help,

Jonathan

I once found orphan/corrupt records in the PartDtl table that was resulting in unwanted suggestions.

My old notes list some conversions but I can’t remember if this is what finally cleared the bad records.

e.g.
System Management --> Upgrade/Mass Regeneration --> Conversion Workbench
6430 Recalculate Part Onhand/Allocation summaries.
6920 Delete PartDtl with Invalid Job References

it would be interesting to see what happens if you changed the Min Order and Max order size to zero, and only left the MULT at 40… wondering if that might be confusing something.

We tried that as well as the Days of Supply. The calculation still comes out wrong.

Any clues in your MRP log

  • logging level MRP?
  • Net Change or Regen?

Good Morning Bruce!

Not a clue. We do a Regen every Saturday, that log had nothing that shed a light, and a Net Change through out the week and that had nothing. We’ve been testing by removing parameters and running a Net Change just on one of the affected parts and there’s still no change.
