Another option (maybe).
I seem to remember from a past demo on the Advanced Quality (IQS) modules; the ability to assign (check out) tools (ie. gages) to jobs(ops). The Adv Quality also has calibration functionality, so if a tool (gage) goes out of calibration there are flags or reports that can be used for quarantining parts produced since the last calibration. This could theoretically be tracked to lots and serial numbers if that functionality was also used.
Anyone out there using Advanced Quality to do what Vic is suggesting?
Our company is going to be looking for this type of ability soon, and will be looking again at the Adv Quality, so it would be nice to know if the IQS product could solve Vic's problem.

If you set up your tools as resources they could then be associated with each OP & you could write a simple report to look at closed Jobs that had production pass through a specific tool resource within a specific time frame.
If you set up your tools as parts (perhaps non-qty bearing & non-stock) & have them in your method/job details, you could do something similar (look for a specific job material 'tool' related to any OPs in closed Jobs within a certain time frame).

My QA team recently came to me with a suggestion.
We calibrate tools once per year. If during a calibration we find a
tool is out of compliance (but was OK during last year's calibration) we
would like to know which jobs and operations in which that tool was
utilized.
There could be multiple tools used per Job Op.
Has anyone implemented something similar and could you offer your
thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
