We are looking at doing Quantity Adjust transactions in place of actually signing out materials as we continue to mess up our ERP configuration (please understand I do not condone these activities, so don’t blame me for the goofiness of the process).
Since we are not processing orders/jobs in Epicor, but are trying to maintain Inventory in Epicor this is crazy I know. I was working on a method to automate the process but since there is such a disconnect it resulted in 87% failure on import.
Now they are wanting to have the end user do a Quantity Adjust in Epicor when they want to sign out materials. We use a few UD columns in our Part setup to help identify parts, specifically with Laminates as we allow our customers to select from a vast catalog of options. We categorize them by “Manufacturer”, so we use a UD column for that data. However now when we access the Part Search the UD column is blank, even when the actual field is populated.
The “basic” search is pulling a specific predefined set of columns… UD columns aren’t going to be included. You’ll probably need to build a quick search or BAQ search for the data to get pulled in.
Make sure you regularly run the Refresh Part Quantities and Refresh PartBin processes if you’re doing this. I can tell you from experience that if you are doing lots of adjustments, the PartWhse records get thrown off really quickly. I would suggest daily.
