I have been reading this link with some interest. I have raised this idea at
various MN. user group meetings in the past in front of various Epicor
mucky-mucks. I would like to see the functionality expanded to the point of
importing the UPS charges into my A/R invoice as part of the get shipments
functions. Oh well back to wishing for summer to hurry up come to thaw us
out!!

Mike,
Good point. But if they gave you some bogess excuse like that then it is
probably not going to happen. They need to start somewhere then improve
upon it. So let's get started designing this:
I would first start with a scheduled upload of data that corresponded to a
scheduled export from Worldship following the end of the day processing.
You would have to include the packing slip number in Worldship as a refence
number to link it to the packing slip in Vantage. Verify the data and
transfer to an additional table. Then it would just be a matter of making
the table viewable in all related trackers and shipment screens. From this
view a button to track packages with a link to UPS's website for tracking
should not be too difficult. What about creating a link from the ship via
type to different websites for instances if the package shipped fedex it
would know from the shipvia that this was a fedex package and goto their
website to track it. Of course, these tracking numbers would be manually
inputted as could LTL carrier numbers. Give the software configuration
options, that is how you satify multiple companies with different ideas.
You don't tell them it can't be done.
Please feel free to run with this idea until we get to some common ground to
submit a enhancement request with teeth!

Importance: High
Mitchell,
I tried this in 1999. At Las Vegas Perspectives we gathered almost a dozen
users who wanted to have a some sort of interface between Vantage and UPS.
After all that interest Epicor's excuse not to do it was that each user had
their own idea what features to have or how it would function. It looks like
that before we submit anything to them, first we need to decide exactly what
we want. That way they cannot back up.
Right now we are using Visual Basic program that I wrote and "VB Form" to
interface Vantage with UPS. We can only export data from Vantage to UPS.
Then I wrote another program which tracks the shipments from UPS.
We are very much interested in using a standard feature in Vantage instead
of a combination of programs.
