I am not sure this is the same, but we do have instances where we are
making a part (outside of the main MOM) that we produce and as it
completes, we are using the end product of that job as a material
requirement on another job. We refer to them as Masters to Subs.
The function available in Vantage is Job Receipt to Job found in
Inventory Management.
Amazingly the costs transferred are accurate. Vantage does a good
job on keeping the cost buckets from the Master (PARTTRAN), so you
can always go back to research any discrepancies. I would, however,
be careful when analyzing costs. Since the Master Job costs are
consumed in the Sub job, you cannot combine the two in analysis as
you would be double dipping.
