That is unfortunate - I think that is one area that would greatly
benefit many users by allowing VBForms or customization. Thank you for
your input - that way I won't go running to 6.0 and 6.1 so fast.

I believe I spoke too soon. I had 6.1 loaded yesterday afternoon on
our backup server. There is still no ability to customize in that
area of Data collection. A quote from the help file 'As new releases
become available, more windows will also become customizable'. Sorry
for the false hope.

Regardless of which version you are currently using, your comments
regarding version 6.0 are still needed.

We were asked if we wanted to be a 6.0 Early Adopter but had to decline due to conflict with other business initiatives in progress. Epicor would like to have 3-4 early sites blaze the trail. They were in the process of firming up an offer of some pretty significant incentives including some consulting support and a pass to Perspectives. I think they might be trying hardest to find sites close to Plymouth, MN. If you are interested in going to 6.0 really soon you might want to contact your CAM and see if they still needs sites and if you qualify. Even if there are defects they will be ones that your site finds and they will be fixed soonest. There are a lot of really cool sounding features in 6.0. I really wish we could have done the Early Adopter thing.

I'm a firm believer in letting somebody else be the pioneer. You can always
tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs.

Version 6.0 is supposed to have a UPS interface. Has anyone heard anything
about this?

Vantage 6.0 does have a UPS interface. It is available as a new module
called Advanced Shipping.

I have a couple more questions related to Vantage 6.0:

1. Regarding Crystal Reports, does anyone know if Vantage still uses
8.5 or if it now requires 9.0?
2. Regarding the Master File Import/Export utility, I was told by
custom programming that Epicor "will not be upgrading [this utility] to
version 6.0, due to enhanced functionality with 6.0 as well as some new
tools." Does anyone know anthing about any enhanced import/export
capabilities?

Bug in 6.0: if you try to update parent screen fields in a VBForm,
the parent fields are cleared instead of updated. This works in 5.2
and Epicor created SCR 6373 for it.

Hi Group

We have been running Vamtage 6.00 (Upgraded from 5.2) 2 weeks ago. It
is a fairly clean release. Only problems we have had so far are.

1) AR Invoice Entry Cannot enter Invoice number to select invoice,
must browse
2) Customer Shipping, Always prompts with stock is to go into
negative, veven when stock is plentiful. We have to set the part class
to not stop shipment on negative stock
3) Different functionality in Engineering Workbench (Cannot check
in until completed date in group is filled in)
4) Re-entering all our menus and reports

Thats it and we run most Vantage modules

We did a test conversion to ver 6 two weeks ago, and none of our custom
menu structure came over. We called Epicor, and they were able to
duplicate the problem with our menu structure. They told me last week
that it has gone up to development.

At least it's getting looked at to get fixed. I'm one of those geniuses that
has about 600 report builder reports hung off the menus. First I find out
report builder is going away, then I hear menu structure changes aren't
going thru, For me to convert I might as well just go purchase a new ERP
system.

Two question topics:
1. Who says RB is going away? When?
Epicor has told me that although Progress is not going to enhance RB further but that it will still be avaialble to use indefinitely. But Epicor is urging consideration of Crystal as the primary report tool "going forward".

2. What sort of menu items don't get converted? Reports embedded in Vantage 'Reports' menu or reports in UD type menu levels?
I don't put any reports in 'Reports' menus but rather all home grown reports are in their own seperate sub-menus.

At least it's getting looked at to get fixed. I'm one of those geniuses that
has about 600 report builder reports hung off the menus. First I find out
report builder is going away, then I hear menu structure changes aren't
going thru, For me to convert I might as well just go purchase a new ERP
system.

We did a test conversion to ver 6 two weeks ago, and none of our custom menu
structure came over. We called Epicor, and they were able to duplicate the
problem with our menu structure. They told me last week that it has gone up
to development.

Yes this is true. And we had alot of extra menu structure. All our quality

We have been running Vamtage 6.00 (Upgraded from 5.2) 2 weeks ago. It is a
fairly clean release. Only problems we have had so far are.

1) AR Invoice Entry Cannot enter Invoice number to select invoice,
must browse
2) Customer Shipping, Always prompts with stock is to go into
negative, veven when stock is plentiful. We have to set the part class to
not stop shipment on negative stock
3) Different functionality in Engineering Workbench (Cannot check
in until completed date in group is filled in)
4) Re-entering all our menus and reports

Thats it and we run most Vantage modules
