Vantage Basic/Stupid Stupid Question

Fresh day always helps!!!
Ok, I have spent 8 hours on this today and I am still getting the same
result. Its the same thing I have done many times over. Good thing my hair is
very short or I would have pulled it out by now.

This is what I did.

1) Created a file named test.p and compiled it to test.r and saved it to the
v:\mfgsys\vbp directory.

The file simply contains the command:

MESSAGE "TEST".

2) I customized the Job Mtrl screen and added a button with the command:
RUNPROG test.r

3) I run the program and I get the message
File test.r not found.

4) If I move the program from the VBP directory I get a different message:
**"V:\mfgsys\vbp\test.r" was not found. (293)

It must be finding it because the error message changes after I put it back.
I just think there is something screwy in the Vantage world that I am not
aware of.

Any advice would be welcome.

Jeremy

I have one custom program attached to a button. I used this command:
RUNPROG VBP\filename.p

I'm not able to compile it to a .r file but this works.

Hope that helps.

Jasper

What do you get if you set it for the full path:

RUNPROG V:\mfgsys\vbp\test.r

How about if you setup the .P program as:

{vbp/vb.i}
MESSAGE "TEST".

Don't compile it, just leave it as the .P program in the VBP folder.

Then set the button to:

RUNPROG VBP\TEST.P.

Vantage does a very frustrating thing in this area. It buffers the programs.
You have to log completely out of Vantage and get back in for it to pick up
the new program changes.

Jeremy -

Move the program to the ud folder.
Then change your program to call it from there.

That should fix it.

Calvin

Thanks,
That worked. My stupidity exists on many levels and this was just one of
them. I guess it also didn't help that I forgot to compile my Visual Basic
project into an executable.

Thanks for everyone's help,
Jeremy
