Vantage Payroll tracking

We use shop floor data collection stations and our employees do clock
into indirect operations as needed (such as Cleaning and other admin
type task codes). When they do this, we have them use the resource
group that they are scheduled to be a part of, then we have other
reports which show indirect % for each group, etc.

Thanks for your reply Sarah. We're wanting to do this same thing,
however, one of the things our Accounting manager wants is for the
shop personnel to use the MES screen to log onto "Shipping" or "Clean-
UP". What is required though, when the end user selects "Start
Indirect Labor" is a Resource Group.

Do you have your shop personnel use the MES screen for Indirect Labor
entry such as this? If so, did you set up a Resource Group and has
it worked okay for you?

Does anyone use Vantage 8.0 to track payroll today, without using the
Payroll Module?

If so, please offer what you have done to be able to track Vacation /
Personal / Jury / Bereavement / Holiday time.

Yes, we do (not on 8.0, sadly still on 5.2, but would imagine it's
similar). We set-up indirect codes for those things you mentioned below
and enter them in thru labor entry for the employee. We do a bi-weekly
export of our data to ADP for payroll which takes these codes into
account as needed. The export was written using MS Access so we
customized it to meet our needs and the needs of the ADP file format.
We've been doing it this way for several years. We have a set of payroll
reports we wrote thru access to run vacation, holiday, etc by employee
based on the vantage data.

In 6.1 this is what I have implemented:

Added a table TOCodes consisting of fields: Company, TO_Code, Description (for defining the types of days, Vac, Personal, Jury, etc.....)
Added a table "TimeOff" consisting of fields: Company, EmpID, Date, TO_Code

A simple Progress interface launched from the EmpBasic VBForm to add, delete, modify the Time Off days for the employee. I also set it up so when the payroll report (a print out of the weekly hours by employee) is processed, all the LaborHed.FeedPayroll for the past week get checked "Yes". This way I can lock the TimeOff entries if their date is older than the most current LaborHed with FeedPayroll checked "Yes", that way items can't be deleted after they've already should have been processed for payroll.
