Subject: [Vantage] Vantage Source Code

I need some advice. Our management would like to have "bi-
directional" data into and from Vantage. The reason is that we have
several databases such as a "Purchase Requisition" system and
a "Request for Quote" system, just to mention a few, that do not
interface with Vantage. In addition, they would like to automate
generation of sales orders, jobs, etc. when appropriate. Has anyone
implemented such requirements? Would this be accomplished by
modifying the source code? If so, what happens with patches and new
releases?

I appreciate any input on this matter.

We no longer allow attachments to files. To access/share Report Files,
please go to the following link: http://www.egroups.com/files/vantage/
(Note: If this link does not work for you the first time you try it, go
to www.egroups.com, login and be sure to save your password, choose My
Groups, choose Vantage, then choose Files. If you save the password,
the link above will work the next time you try it.)

Have you guys thought of using the Requisition Module within Vantage 4.0? We
are just now looking into it. It appears that it will work for us. We have
been using the "paper method" up to this point.

Joan,
This can be accomplished without modifications to the vantage source
code. Any such interfaces would have to be written in progress, but data can
be read and written to the database without the source code. We have worked
with several companies to implement these types of changes. Any patches and
major upgrades would have to be reviewed to see if the new interfaces
require changes to deal with schema changes to the vantage database.
If you you would like to discuss some possible ways to incorporate these
other databases feel free to give me a call.
Thanks,
