Vantage & Terminal Server

One method is to create a vntgwork directory in each person's profile
directory on the terminal server box. Then map a drive to the person's
profile directory if this is not already done. Edit the vantage.vtg file to
point to X:\vntgwork instead of c:\vntgwork and save it under a different
name, say vantagets.vtg. When running Vantage from a TS session, run this
new vtg file.

Thanks for the response. Quick question: how did you create a separate
working directory for every user? Did you simply modify each user's
shortcut to point to their own
working directory?

Thanks again!

Hi,
We have an NT 4 box hosting Vantage 3.0, and a Windows 2000 Server
box running the Vantage client and terminal server. However, teminal
services clients will randomly get the following errors in succession:

"Unknown error code 1 for attribute NAME on the CONTROL-FRAME widget"

"Unable to set attribute NAME in widget of type CONTROL-FRAME (3131)"

"Error occurred while creating control-frame: splitter 1
Error performing inpage operation
Error code: 0x80004005 (5898)"

"**Unable to realize control-frame widget"

I posted about this last week, but I didn't have the exact errors
then. Some suggested running a registry fix .bat file, but that file
specifically tels me that it must be run while the computer is booted
into DOS, which (obviously) won't work under Windows 2000.

What is odd about this is that it is totally random. It comes and
goes but there isn't any pattern to it. Odd. Anyway, any help would
be appreciated. I know Vantage 3 isn't exactly everyone's favorite
topic. :)
I happen to love Vantage 3 topics.course that could be because we are still
on it.

I had the exact same problem and setup. The only thing I could find that
may have been causing the problem (it's been about 2 weeks since the last
reported error) was that some of the users were sharing a c:\vntgwork folder
when they were running Vantage. I cleared the folder out and created a
vantage-working directory for each user and the problem seems (fingers
crossed) to have been fixed. I can't say for sure but so far so good.

Hope that helps some..

When we were on Vantage 3.0 we would get errors similar to what you are
getting. They were related to the screen resolution. Vantage likes 800 x
600, but some engineers would run much higher res and it would give these
type of errors. Finally I updated the video drivers on the machines
receiving the error and we stopped getting them. I don't know anything
about terminal services clients, but thought I would mention this.

Kind of.

Everyone was running the same shortcut back to v:\vantage\vantage.vtg. So I
copied the vtg file to each user's desktop and edited the actual vtg file.
There are better more central ways of controlling this through logon
scripts, etc but for the number of people I have with this problem it wasn't
worth the time.
