Larry,
you can set up an ODBC connection that is read-only.
Also, I spoke to my CAM and he stated that there may be migration tools
available to export/redact/import into the V8 db.
Like you, we have much obsolete data in our 6.1 db that I want to clean
out before going forward. The performance issues
are preventing us from moving on this right now.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage V8 Conversion
How many of you have converted to V8?
We are on v6.1.536 and in the process of testing V8.
We like V8. It is very slow but is seem to do what we need.
Our DB is 6.5 gig and we would like to clean it up when we convert.
To many old transactions.
Has anyone been able to purge some of the old data without corruption?
We also have over 125 report in Report Builder to convert?
We do not want ot use Crystal Report because of the ODBC issue of being
able to update the DB.
We plan on using the BAQ and Dashboard.
Has anyone found an easy way to convert the Reports to Dashboard?
Also no more VB forms.
We use VB forms and user fields a lot.
I know you can customize the screen and add those fields but how can you
do it in a short amount of time?
We need to do the conversion in one week-end.
How can you get yourself ready to update all reports, VB Forms, User
Defined fields etc?
If you have been able to update from an older version of Vantage to V8
please let me know how you approch the project
Thank you,
Larry Barriere
