What does your Kinetic Home Page look like?

I see this alot still :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Why am I not surprised?

This is the way!

At some point I saved a blank slate home page as a starting point for customizing, but came to appreciate living out of the menu search. It’s good UX! No mousing, just type, arrow down, enter, done.

I love it!!

If you really want to go nuts with home page layout - exported home page files are plain text.

The WYSIWYG editor constrains you to whole integer heights and widths and locations.

Imported home page layouts aren’t subject to those constraints. Sometimes it’s nice if those header text blocks take up only 0.5 blocks of vertical space. Takes 5 minutes and a few import trials to do instead of 1, but sometimes that’s the cost of perfection.

I do suspect it’s possible to do more things beyond what the canned editor allows, I just haven’t spent time tinkering at it to find out.

Blank seems like a waste of space, if I could have it the way I wanted I would have the search right on the home page and not in the fly out.

I guess I use recently opened fairly often too.

Actually I just realized I can almost approximate this by pinning the flyout, and then dragging it to fill the whole window.

It doesn’t stay though. The next time you log in you have to do it all over again.

Figures.

Summary

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Robert Frost 1874–1963

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I felt like there might have been an idea about this at one point but I went digging and couldn’t locate it. Maybe I only imagined it or was confusing it with this idea: Log In - Epicor Identity

Hi all,
I just started looking at the Kinetic desktop Home page. @timshuwy keeps reminding us that the classic/modern home page is going away. So, I need to get prepared for this. I’m curious if and or how anyone is controlling access to the Data Discovery button on the side panel. I recall not seeing that button in the browser version. Is there any concern that any user has access to EDD?

Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, the button exists in the browser version. SO FAR… this has not been an issue I’ve run into.

I’m guessing here (since I haven’t tested it myself), but any user would only be able to see the data their existing security allows them to see.

Might this become an issue? Sure, anything can have unintended consequences, but again I’ve not run into any so far.

Thanks @Ernie,
I just tested a generic user with limited rights in ERP and, you’re correct. They get an access error when trying to run a widget which accesses data from areas that they are restricted from.

Interesting @Ernie, we’re SaaS and when I open the browser version I don’t see the EDD button.

Never mind, @Ernie , I always forget that Pilot doesn’t have EDD.

Interesting. I have two clients right now (both SaaS) that began almost simultaneously, one has the EDD button on BOTH PILOT and LIVE, the other doesn’t have it on EITHER PILOT or LIVE. I don’t know if it’s a licensing thing or what.

I mean this is 10. but I want to play too

There is a separate accounts manager for Data Discovery.

from what ive tested, unchecking all those roles just gives a user zero functions when in Data Discovery
