Win 2K Vantage printing issues

Make sure your drivers are W2000 drivers and not W98. If in doubt, download
W2K drivers from HP site and reinstall. I actually had to do that just this
morning to print Vantage Help files.

The printer I have my problems with is not on the network. Any ideas
on a fix?

We recently moved to 5.2 and are having problems printing to a
networked Lexmark 2380 forms printer. The system acts as if the
print came out fine, but nothing prints to the printer. When I try
another network printer(a Konica laser) everything works like it
should. I noticed if I close out of Vantage, dump the vntgwk52
directory, and restart vantage the printer works. The sad part is
this is only a temporary fix. The system eventually reverts to the
same problem. I have disabled AV from scanning this folder to no
avail. Just for clarity, the other networked printers (ie Konica) do
not experience this problem ever. Any suggestions?
We just recently switched to 6.0 and now I am having that same
problem too. I am stuck for now just closing and reopening vantage
as a fix as well. It seems to happend after I print payroll checks
but I have noticed the problem less frequently at other times as
well. If you find a fix I would appreciate it if you could pass it
along! :)

Open the Crystal form up again and under the "DATABASE" drop down menu
select "Verify DataBase". Is the form up to date and saved out as the
correct version.

Are you using Terminal Server to connect to Vantage? We had this problem
recently after our upgrade to v6 but we only had the problems you mention
for the users that use TS. The problem boiled down to some issue with
proprint and windows direct IP printing. Once I installed the printer on a
separate server and installed this shared printer on the terminal server the
problem went away. From what Epicor told me Progress wasn't going to
address this problem in this version - 9.1d.

We have been experiencing the same type of printing issues from 5.1 to 5.2
on NT workstations and Win2K printing to HP and other network printers.
This has been going on for a year or so but for some strange reason it seems
to be happening less frequently. Tried just about everything we could think
of but the only common denominators for us are that the reports that have
the issues are all Crystal reports and that closing Vantage and re-opening
clears the problem. At the time of the issue, we can print to the same
network printer using other applications and we there are no indications
that the print job had any problems such as error messages. I call this our
phantom printing issue. It's a pain in the &&*%!!!
