Paul:
I would highly recommend going SP3 with the NTFS file system.
NTFS is much more secured and stable. FAT32 is normally a specialty thing
now that was used back in the days of Windows 95, 98 and ME.
Service Pack 2 or 3 is fine and you can always install 3 later on from
Microsoft's website for free, but we run SP3 on Windows 2000 here and have
had really no problems despite other minor complaints out there on MS
newsgroups. I think SP3 is a good service pack especially if it comes
pre-installed on the machine from Dell.
But this is all just opinion.
There really is not much difference between SP2 and 3, 3 was "supposedly"
released early due to a Microsoft court case, so Microsoft had to make it an
option to set program access rights for Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger,
and others.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [Vantage] Windows 2000 Pro
Good morning everyone,
IÂ’m ordering a new DELL Precision workstation and had a question about the
Operating System. I need it with Windows 2000 Pro, but I have some choices
with DELL. I can get it with Service Pack 2, Service Pack 3 or Service Pack
3 with CD and FAT 32.
Can someone give some insight into the difference here? I just need this
for a CAM workstation, I going with Dual processors and just an IDE drive
system.
IÂ’m assuming I need to get SP3.
Thanks
